I have been running a TV show blog for about 2 months now, since the beginning of the latest season. I have been promoting mostly on SideReel, and getting a little traffic from there. I also get a little from Google, but not enough to go crazy about. My blog is mostly just videos from the last episode, and maybe (if I have time) a recap of the last episode.
Yesterday, out of nowhere, I saw 300 visitors hit my site. Holy Cow! I have not put links on Sidereel in a while, so I had no idea where they came from. I had exactly ZERO comments on the site before yesterday, but today I had about 20 waiting for me. I normally have 3 to 5 people vote on my poll on the blog, but last poll had over 60, and the new one I just put up today already has over 60 votes.
Where did all this traffic come from? Google of course. I have not touched the site in the while, so I have no idea why all of a sudden I am getting visitors. I have always ranked on the first page for the search term that is sending me traffic, so maybe I moved up a few spots and now people trust my site?
The only problem with the site is that I designed it myself, and I didn’t do too good of a job. I just hacked something together and threw out there because the site wasn’t too popular. Now that I am getting over 300 visitors a day, I now need to spend some time cleaning up the site. Hopefully it won’t take longer than a day or two so I can get back on track with my original plan, but knowing me, I will spend too much time on it.
