Marketing

So I was sifting through the Warrior Forum today, and I came across an eBook about finding long-tail keywords with little or no competition. For those of you who don’t know, the Warrior Forum is a forum about Internet Marketing. I just recently starting visiting the forum because a few of the people I follow on Twitter mention it a lot. They say it is the best forum for Internet Marketing, so I am trying it out.

I normally never buy eBooks like this online, especially from sales pitches on forums. Read More …

Helping Me Be Productive

Time Management

I just got done watching a video on Wake Up Productive. Wow, did it open my eyes! It is an excellent video on time management, but it was just a sample video into the entire product he has available.  If this is a sample, I can only imagine what he has in the actual product.  Problem is, it is sold out.  If it becomes available, you bet I will be purchasing it.

The video was a little depressing because he names off four things that hinder our productivity and the bells went off on all four.  Things like distractions (yes, I have kids), friction (my wife doesn’t really support my business), and work environment (I need an office, but we have no room in our house for one) are reasons why people aren’t productive.  While it was depressing because I knew there was very little I could do about these things now, it did give some excellent strategies to being more productive.

One of the items I will be taking from the video is the early morning routine.  He says you need to get up in the morning, drink a glass of water, do some sort of exercise, and have a healthy breakfast.  I do none of this currently, though I know I need to start.  Tomorrow will be the first day I do it.  I am going to try to get on the treadmill and walk for about 30 minutes, then eat some bacon and eggs, follow that up with a shower, and then get to work.

I need to use my weekends to be more productive as they really are the only time I have to simulate what it would be like if I quit my job and started working for myself.  I currently waste away weekends and any other free time I have.  Even when my wife takes my kids for the weekend, and I am left by myself, I usually get very little done.  Sometimes it is because I am lazy, other times it is because I don’t have a task list in front of me, so I don’t know where to start.  This all NEEDS to change if I am going to become more successful online.

The best quote from the video was:

“Time Management is a misnomer.  You don’t manage time, you need to manage yourself.”

My First Approach to Passive Income

Marketing

I have been thinking and writing a lot about passive income lately.  This is the ultimate goal of all affiliate marketers, but if you think about it, not many are driving towards achieving it.  What do most affiliate marketers promote?  They help sell products or get leads.  But these products and leads are one time things.  You get one commission, then move on to the next person.  What about getting multiple commissions from one sale or one lead?

That is my approach.  I am only promoting products that will get my multiple commissions from one lead or sale.  My first attempt is to refer people to affiliate networks.  I am trying to get the 2% - 5% commissions when other people make money.  I have bought two ads on two decently popular blogs, but I have had no luck so far.  I figure if I can get one or two referrals, and they start making some money, I would break even and start profiting.

The second approach to passive income is residual commissions.  What this means is that I refer a person to a product that they have to pay monthly or yearly for, and I receive a commission every time that renew their subscription.  There are tons of affiliates out there like this, AWeber is the best example.  You make 20% on all their orders as long as they continue to order.  This way, you refer one person, and you are making $4 a month, every month they continue to use AWeber.

The third approach is to build an email list.  This way I can send more and more products at the list, so I will have more chances to sell more products.  All the top affiliate marketers always say you MUST have an email list to succeed.  Well, I never pulled the trigger on this and got started, but I will be signing up for AWeber as soon as I post this.

Three ways to make not only money now, but money coming in every month.  If I can put a lot of work in now, hopefully I will be able to reap the rewards down the line.

Random Site Explosion

Websites

I have been running a TV show blog for about 2 months now, since the beginning of the latest season. I have been promoting mostly on SideReel, and getting a little traffic from there. I also get a little from Google, but not enough to go crazy about. My blog is mostly just videos from the last episode, and maybe (if I have time) a recap of the last episode.

Yesterday, out of nowhere, I saw 300 visitors hit my site. Holy Cow! Read More …

Two Easy Ways to Passive Residual Income

Marketing

Passive Residual Income is income that continues to be generated after your initial effort has been completed and continues to make you money with little effort to maintain it. Yes, every person’s dream. Do a little work, sit back, and let the money roll in. This is possible to do, but the initial work is usually not very easy. Read More …

Do You Consistently Fail at Affiliate Marketing?

Marketing

Are you working hard at affiliate marketing and consistently failing? Do you try new ideas and promote new products, but still aren’t breaking through and making money? There is a very simple explanation for that … you are simply going about it in the wrong way. Don’t be discouraged, you aren’t alone. The majority of people who try at affiliate marketing fail because they are doing the wrong things. Read More …

My Journey to a PS3

Goals

I love football video games - College Football and Madden are my favorite games by a huge margin over other games (now that EA stopped making MLB games).  I owned a Wii, but I sold it because these games didn’t play well on the Wii.  I just wanted to play, I didn’t want to have to throw my hands up in the air to make an interception, it was just too awkward.  So after I sold the Wii, I told my wife I was going to take the money and buy a PS3.  Well, one thing led to another, and we didn’t have the money for it when it came time that I really wanted it. September Goals

Goals

This is something new I will be doing every month, setting hard goals.  By this I mean, I will be writing them down (on the Internet) for every one to see.  This way I will actually be held accountable for whether I met these goals or not.  I am not really concerned with whether I meet the goals, but if I don’t bust my butt to try to meet the goals, then I reall failed.  Ok, here we go: Read More …

Changing One System to Fix a Flaw in Another

Design

Why do people think this is the right approach?  So we have a flaw in System A, the logic is not right.  Let’s change the way System B works to mask the flaw in System A.  Sounds like an excellent plan, right? Read More …

Desk Coder Up and Running

Blog

If you come around this site often (I have no idea why you would), you would have noticed that there is a new design.  The old one was way overused, so I went with a different one I hope it not as common as the other.  I sprinkled some of my own touches to this theme, as well as cleaning up a ton of BAD code.   I like it.  I don’t know how long I will like it, but it looks good for the time being.
